Which is more likely, a Snow Storm or a Rams Victory?

I know it is not easy to predict the weather here in the midwest, but you must love how the TV news stations like KSDK love to play up the slight possibility that we might be getting snow at some point in the near future. Early last week I remember Cindy Preszler saying it did not look like we would be having a white Christmas, but then by the weekend they had changed their prediction to a possibility of a snow storm on Wednesday the 23rd or perhaps Christmas Eve. Now it looks like it will most likely be all rain for us in St. Louis on both days. They are just trying to drive up viewer numbers for their news programs, but do they really need to even attempt to predict the weather over a week in advance when we all know their odds of getting it correct is pretty slim?

As I state in the title, it seems we are as likely to see the Rams win a game this season as we are to see a snow storm in St. Louis in the next few weeks. The Rams actually had a shot this past weekend against Houston, but they had to be kind to the Texans and give them the opportunity to come back and win it in at the end. The Rams' last two games are away at Arizona and then at home against the 49ers. The Cardinals have not been super consistent this year but are still good enough to easily beat the Rams in Arizona next week, so the best possibility for a second win is on Jan 3rd against the 49ers. Should the Rams even try to win that game, or should they shoot for the worst record in the NFL to guarantee that top draft pick next year?

Last night the children at our church performed "Get the Story Straight", a simple Christmas play written and directed by my wife, and the kids executed it marvelously, if I must say so myself. The cast of nearly 30 did not trip, cry, scream or act up, and the congregation thoroughly enjoyed themselves, although they were already all in a holiday mood after the potluck dinner (hey, we're Methodists!), the all new "ribbon dance" and a video of the stars. And then there was Jesus' birthday cake afterwards, complete with a 3D sheep on top. I am not sure where you get a sheep cake mold, but I now know someone who has one! Our production was definitely a low key, more intimate kind of Christmas production, not like some of the huge, elaborate productions you see these days. In a couple days we are going to see the Drummer Boy at Grace Church which is definitely a huge production, and the music is phenomenal. I believe there is a place for both types of Christmas performances at churches and I enjoy both in their own way.

On the way home from church last night we noticed that northbound McKnight at highway 64 was closed and there were a bunch of Ladue and Brentwood police cars there on the overpass. Southbound McKnight was also backed up, but that seemed due to Winter Wonderland traffic which was almost backed up to the highway at 8:30pm. We were curious why there were so many police cars around, so we checked the news web sites, but did not see anything reported. After the alleged rape a few weeks ago (which amounted to nothing) I think we are all more aware to the fact that crimes may occur at any time in any location. Plus we know the news reporters love to report about "crime in Ladue" since it helps grab people's attention. It is rather sad if you think about the fact that news reports of crime in North City do not even bother people, but if they hear about crime in Ladue or Creve Coeur or Kirkwood it is suddenly headline news.
